Fishing for leadership

Fly Fishing Leadership Motivational Poster - Front Line Art Publishing

My favorite hobby is fishing.  To be a good fisher, it requires you to posses a few knowledgeable skills. When fishing, you have to know what type of lures work best for the environment you are fishing in.  Next, you have to have the right technique.  Finally, a good fishermen has patience and knows that you may fail in catching a fish that day but keeps on going out and trying.  This correlates to leadership because when a leader is faced with an objective accompanied by a team a leader must figure out every members strengths and find out the best way to utilize their skills to reach and surpass their targeted objective.  It is also similar to leadership in that when you fail at something but have the ability to pick yourself back up and continue trucking through with everything you got.

My favorite influential activist

A influential leader that I looked up to during my teen years was Bob Marley.   He was the leader and the father of the Reggae movement.   The sound of Reggae music made my soul come to ease.  I watched everything I could that had to do with Bob Marley.  Through his music, values, and words, I learned about optimism and peace.  Positivity vibrated from him and it greatly impacted me and how I associate myself with others.

My passion

One of my passions in life is fishing.  When I am out on the water, nothing else matters.  I feel all my stresses and worries melt away.  Fishing requires a lot of patience, technique and luck.  When I get a bite on my fishing pole and I can reel in a fish, my eyes light up like the fourth of July.  I like fishing by myself, but I do enjoy going with other people.  It gives me an opportunity to teach people what I know about fishing and experience the joy they feel when they catch something.

I have a dream

"I have a dream" speech was a monumental time in America's history.  Dr. Martin Luther King was the face of the African American race and he played such an important role in helping to end segregation in America.  During his speech he mentioned something about the police brutality and how bad it was.  It is definitely not like how it used to be but to my astonishment, police still target and stereotype black people for things and act in a more aggressive way towards them.  Anyways, a question posed by Alex stated: What does this speech have to do with possibility?  This speech is all about possibility.  Dr. Martin Luther King thought it was possible to go up in front of that huge crowd and deliver to them what he believed was the right thing that America needed to do.  In his eyes, it was possible for the black and white people to come together in a closer and professional way.  What I got from that speech is that if I believe something is possible, it can happen.
